Cupcake decorating class 4

Hi guys,

Today's Sunday again and it's blog day :) How time flies. Well, it's time to update you on the happenings of the past week.

Last Wednesday at cupcake decorating class, I decorated a dozen of cupcakes. I used some chocolate Easter eggs as Easter is just round the corner. It went quite well. Here is what I did:

Not bad aye? 4th class and it's looking this good. Im sure by the end of the course (8 classes altogether), I should be able to do wonders (I HOPE!) haha...

Anyways, it was really fun! I enjoyed decorating the cupcakes. The lady instructor was saying that this sorta thing can get really addictive! haha..I think so too!!

I hope that I will have a chance to decorate for someone who orders cupcakes from me one fine day...till that day comes :)

Cheers

Alan & Siew Funs Birthday Dinner @ Ripples, Chowder Bay

Hi all,

What a night! I had such a good time at Alan's and Siew Funs birthday dinner @ Ripples, Chowder Bay. The food wasn't fantastic, but the company was. The venue was very nice, dining by the water. We got to the restaurant at about 6pm and left at 8.45pm. When we left the restaurant, we saw a huge possum and a rabbit. I wonder what the 2 were doing just being on the grass quite close to each other! hehe

Anyways, I made a strawberry cake for the birthday boy and girl. SF requested for a 'fruity' cake since Alan mentioned that he hasnt had a good fruit cake for some time now. I thought a strawberry cake would be refreshing since ive always baked rich cakes. I used plain sponge (4 layers) and layered fresh strawberries & cream in each layer and covered the whole cake with fresh strawberries! Strawberries overkill? NAHH..it was awesome! The sponge cake was moist, the cream just the right thickness and sweetness and yuuuuuummmm...hehe...

People at the restaurant were staring at the cake when the waitress brought it out, not sure if it was because of the sparkles she planted on it, or the cake itself! hehe..well, I want to believe it's the cake that caught their attention. I couldnt resist but to tell the ladies at the next table that I baked the cake (while they were admiring it and saying how nice it looked). My friends on the table said I should have brought my business card to pass around! haha..not yet guys..wait a while more ok? Im working on it. It will come, but thanks so much for your support. You dont know how much I appreciate it.

Now about the dinner. I felt that Jou's lamb, Ron's tenderloin and my beef ragu pappardelle was the best. Ade, SF and Alan werent happy with their fish. Oh I forgot about the starters. It was Jou's seared scallop on blood pudding that came out the best. I loved it, but it could have been better if it was served hot and not luke warm. Of course we had the cake after main course. The restaurant plated the cake and served it with ice cream and strawberry sauce. It was nice. Coffee was nice too.

Overall, it was a really nice evening. Nice place, nice company, nice cake and so-so food. Perfect to me.

Cheers
